CJC 1295 is an analog of growth hormone releasing hormone and a growth hormone secretagogue. It results in an increase in plasma growth hormone levels with a lesser effect on secretion of IGF-1 levels. CJC-1295 is available in two different forms, referred to as with or without Drug Affinity Complex (DAC). CJC is most commonly prescribed without DAC. The presence of DAC increases the half-life of CJC-1295 from 30 minutes to 6-8 days. While this may seem ideal, this elongated half-life actually makes dosing more difficult and less predictable. CJC-1295 has a low side effect profile with minimal impact on hunger, cortisol levels, acetylcholine, prolactin or aldosterone production. It was originally used to treat muscle disorders, burns and a variety of other diseases. CJC gained further popularity in the discovery that it allows the anterior pituitary gland to follow its natural, pulsatile release of growth hormone and hence the benefits experienced.
